Brooklyn's Hipster Fashion

Posted on June 08, 2014

Brooklyn has blossomed to be New York's mecca for wholesome food, organic juices, great vintage, and craft beer. It really has become home to well-dressed hipsters, and we kinda like it : )

What is a hipster?

Hipster, as defined by The Urban Dictionary is a subculture of men and women typically in their 20's and 30's that value independent thinking, counter-culture, progressive politics, an appreciation of art and indie-rock, creativity, intelligence, and witty banter.

Very nice subculture! Brooklyn's young population and perfect location is probably the reason the subculture is thriving there.

It is quite amusing that there are how-to guides on how to dress like a hipster (we just thought it came naturally). Here are just some of the how-to's in case you are visiting Brooklyn or just want to give the hipster fashion a go:

Wear skinny jeans. Both men and women usually wear skinny jeans.

Wear iconic tops. Tops with rock band logos, cartoon characters, book covers, and the like.

Dress vintage. Granny's closet is definitely a good source for the ladies.

Find suitable footwear. Boots - cowboy, combat, ankle, granny, and all kids of boots.

Accessorize. Headbands, neon nail polish, pins, bright belts, messenger bags, and anything out of the ordinary.

Mismatch and layer. Wearing things that don't match is very hipster.

Wear glasses. Hipsters love iconic eyewear.

Try on our Brooklyn glasses to match your Brooklyn Hipster Fashion!

Not just classic black, but black and blue! Brooklyn has a subtle smoke blue inside layer that gives a sneak peek of colour from different angles. Strong square lines and a medium fit frame.
